Cy3 Bis NHS ester is a reactive fluorescent dye for general labeling of protein amine groups. Cy3 Bis NHS ester includes two reactive groups on one dye molecule. The N-hydroxysuccinimde (NHS) ester is the most popular amine reactive group, used for capturing the primary amines (R-NH2) of proteins, amine-modified oligonucleotides, and other amine-containing molecules. Appling NHS chemistry allows one to conjugate a variety of fluorescent probes (e.g. Cy3, a traditional orange-fluorescent label which is highly water soluble) to primary amines. Thus, target biological compounds can be visualized by Cy3 fluorescence (~550 nm excitation, ~570 nm emission) monitored by various fluorometers, imagers, and microscopes.
