Macrophage inflammatory protein-3 β (MIP-3β) is a CC chemokine produced in the thymus, lymph nodes and activated bone marrow stromal cells. MIP-3β signals through the chemokine receptor CCR-7/EBI-1/BLR-2. MIP-3β is a chemoattractant for T and B lymphocytes, and myeloid progenitor cells. The expression of MIP-3β is down-regulated by the anti-inflammatory cytokine IL-10. CCL19 and CCL21 control survival, apoptosis, migratory speed, and maturation of dendritic cells, rate of endocytosis and the cytoarchitecture.
The murine MIP-3β cDNA encodes a 108 aa protein contains a 25 aa signal sequence. Human MIP-3β is active on murine cells. Recombinant murine MIP-3β is a 9.2 kDa protein containing 83 amino acid residues.
Determined by its ability to chemoattract human mature dendritic cells using a concentration of 10-100 ng/ml. |
