HBcAg(核心抗原)是乙型肝炎病毒蛋白(1)(2)。它是病毒复制活跃的指示剂,这意味着感染乙型肝炎的人可以很容易将病毒传播给另一个人。HBeAg是乙肝表面抗原(HBcAg)的细胞外形式,两者都是病毒复制的标记物,针对这些抗原的抗体是复制下降的标志。相同的DNA序列可产生多种蛋白产品。当“ORF Core”和“Pre C”共同翻译,产生“HBeAg”。而HBcAg被认为是“颗粒”,“HBeAg”被认为是“非颗粒”或“分泌”。HBeAg和HBcAg来源于相同的阅读框,HBeAg从细胞中分泌,在血清中累积,作为免疫学上不同的可溶性抗原。HBeAg分泌并在患者的血清中发现,可作为慢性肝炎中复制活跃的标记。虽然HBeAg的功能尚不完全清楚,有研究表明,它下调肝细胞和单核细胞中Toll样受体2的表达,导致细胞因子表达的减少。HBeAg对于复制是可有可无的,pre-C区缺陷的突变病毒仍具有感染性和致病性(3)。
